Free Soil Party
The Free Soil party was forms in the United States. Buffalo New York was the exact place it was formed. The Free Soil party started in Buffalo, New York in 1848 and ended in 1854. In the beginning the Free Soil Party was trying to send a message in the 1848 presidential election. Back then New York was a great place to be in the summer, especially when the elections were happening. Lots of people like the message they were sending but some people didn’t.
A lot of people were involved with the free Soil Party. Some names were James Polk, Henry Clay and of course our countries 8th president Martain van Buren. The Whig and Democratic Party were also a part of the Free Soil Party. But many people were involved like some citizens who wanted to stop slavery from entering the west. Lots of people held protest in the west to stop the slave trade from entering.
The Free Soil Party effected slavery by sending messages and leading protest telling people that slavery should be banned from the country. The Free Soil Party’s goal was to succeed, but tragically their plan failed. Through the years slavery continued. But with the help of presidents, states and governments slavery has since calmed. Today. slavery still continues . external image 220px-Free_Soil_campaign_banner.jpg
